At El Pintado, we produce specialty organic coffee on 17 acres of land in the heart of the Antigua Valley, Guatemala.
Our coffee is classified as Strictly Hard Bean, a result of our farm’s 5,000-foot elevation, which allows for a slow maturation process. The coffee we sell and export is meticulously hand-sorted and carefully selected.
We shade our coffee plants with a diverse array of native trees, including: Inga, Jacaranda, Cushin, Caspirol, Mahogany, Avocado, Loquat, Fig.
We are the only certified organic farm in Antigua and one of just five actively managed organic farms in Guatemala.

We produce exclusively Arabica coffee
We produce exclusively Arabica coffee, the plant varieties we currently cultivate are:
Our team handpicks the coffee cherries, each wearing a wristband that shows the color of the beans to be harvested, ensuring a consistently high quality of specialty coffee.
We maintain a robust worm farm with 50 million worms on-site, producing nutrient-rich fertilizer to nourish our coffee plants. We believe in organic, abundant fertilization to strengthen the plants, helping them resist pests and other health threats.
Each morning, we spray the plants with nutrient-rich liquids produced by our worms, timed to when the pores of the plant leaves are open for maximum absorption.
At El Pintado, we process our coffee in our own eco-friendly mill, which allows us to uphold consistent quality standards for our beans. This mill recycles the water used in processing and treats it naturally before returning it to the soil.
Our coffee has consistently placed in the top 5 for quality in various competitions.

Our Story
Our
Story
El Pintado is a 400 year colonial farm that started to produce coffee in the 1940’s and was converted into a certified organic farm in the year 2000.
There is a 250 year old “casa patronal” or manor house on the estate that is still lived in to this day by a member of the Arzu family that has been in the valley and in Guatemala for many centuries.
We decided to become organic when we realized the harm chemicals used on traditional coffee farms were having on the people that sprayed them on the plants and the environment that was absorbing them. We knew becoming organic was going to involve a lot of hard work and risk but we knew it was the right decision to make for our coworkers, mother nature and the consumers that drink our coffee every day.
We export our coffee directly to roasters all over the world and we value having close and long lasting relationships with our buyers. Our partners appreciate our story and recognize the efforts we are making in producing high quality coffee in a way that respects the environment and the people that help us produce it!
